If you need to muzzle your dog because it scavenges or bites, choose one that allows the dog to open its mouth, in case it needs to pant, drink or vomit.
Muzzles are an ideal training accessory to control behavioural problems and should always be used during exercise, in a public place, if your breed is recognised under the Dangerous Dogs Act. For official guidelines on this act, please click on the link provided below.
Although plastic muzzles offer seemingly greater protection, nylon alternatives are equally as good. To help you choose the correct size, please follow the steps below.
1. Measure around your dogs' noseband, using a piece of string or tape measure, approximately 1-2" forward from their eyes. 2. Place your forefinger under the string to ensure enough space for your dog to be comfortable - don't tighten the string, it should be free to move. 3. Lay the string along a scale rule and cross reference against the muzzle sizes below. If an exact match is not available, opt for the nearest size.
